Papers relating mainly to the disposal of duplicates from Sion College Library. The papers are in the hand of William Reading, Librarian of Sion College 1708-44. ff. 1-2. List of duplicates in the study of the late Bishop of London [Henry Compton], 1715. With receipts signed by Christopher Bateman, bookseller, and titles of books supplied by him in place of the duplicates 1716-21. f. 4r. 'An account of books purchased with Mr. Abraham Colfe's gift (being 20s per annum) from 1711 to 1724'. ff. 4v-5r. 'Duplicates sold to Mr. Bateman by order of the Court Feb. 4 1720'. ff. 6r-17v. 'Duplicates in Sion Library June 5 1721'. Initials of the names of the donors of these copies are frequently given. At f. 17v. is a receipt for the books, for which he paid £43, signed by W. Mears, bookseller [William Mears (fl. 1713-28), bookseller in London], 7 Nov. 1721. ff. 18r-33v. 'Duplicates in Sion Library Nov 6 1722'. Initials of the names of the donors of these copies are frequently given. At f. 33v. is a receipt for the books, for which he paid £12, signed by W. Mears, bookseller, 14 Nov. 1722. ff. 34r-35v. 'The several sums of forty three pounds and twelve pounds in all fifty five pounds arising from the duplicates aforesaid were thus laid out...'. A list of books purchased, signed by William Reading.
