Description

The diaries are very brief, but describe her day-to-day activities and contacts with family and friends over a period of 58 years. In addition each annual volume has detailed accounts at the end. The volumes for 1872, 1878 and 1902 are missing.

Administrative / biographical background

Mrs Halliday was the wife of John Halliday, brother of Michael Frederick Halliday, pre-Raphaelite painter. Both John and Michael Frederick Halliday died in 1869. Mrs Halliday lived at Teddington, Middx., Chadton, near Radlett, Herts., and, from 1865, at Belmont Park, Lee.
