Other Data: Roll of Honour (de Ruvigny), Vol 2, p27: Lieut 47th MGC, the Northumberland Fusiliers. Enlisted in the RE in Aug 1914, received a commsn in April 1915. Served with the BEF in France & Flanders, Took part in the capture of Guillemont and Guinchy 3/9/1916 at which he was promoted Lieut for his gallant conduct and devotion to duty, his name and deed being entered in the record of the 16th Irish Div. He was KIA 7/6/1917 at the battle of Messines. He was greatly loved by all, especially his own men.
