Description

Survey observations and computations along the Northern Rhodesia-Belgian Congo boundary (Mweru-Tanganyika and Mpanta Meridian sections). Comprises:. 11 Horizontal and Vertical Observation Books (numbered M[weru].T[anganyika].1 to M.T.11) . Book 5 has an inserted folio (21 x 17cm); 6 books of Rope and Sound Traverse observations completed in Horizontal and Vertical Observation Books (numbered 5, 6, 7,10, 11 and 12) and annotated 'Mweru-Tanganyika'; 5 books of Main Traverse observations completed in an assortment of Traverse Books and Horizontal and Vertical Observation Books (numbered 3, 4, 8, 9, and the other with the cover missing) and annotated 'Mweru-Tanganyika'; 2 River Books and related notes completed in Horizontal and Vertical Observation Books (one numbered 1, the other with the cover missing) and annotated 'Mweru-Tanganyika'; 1 Horizontal and Vertical Observation Book (numbered Arc No.1). [Links this survey to a simultaneously completed survey of a section of the Arc of the 30th Meridian in Tanganyika.]; Date range obtained from account of Lieutenant Colonel E.R.L. Peake R.E. (1934). [See Related Materials.]. Used in the compilation of Geographical Section, General Staff No. 4044, 7 sheets at scale 1:250,000 dated 1941 filed at Maps X.6262, and G.S.G.S. 3998, 1 sheet at scale 1:250,000 dated 1933? of which an enlarged, annotated bromide at scale 1:200,000 dated 1938 is filed at Maps MOD GSGS 3998.
