Letter of John Cartman, Secretary, Royal Oak Lodge, Ripon, meeting at the Norfolk Arms, to William Henry White, signed by Richard Shepherd, John Cartman, William Clark, Joseph Bradwell, Christopher Johnson, William Turner and William Scoop. Seek to re-establish the Lodge as meetings were suspended for the previous three or four years and members are not sure whether they meet under the remit of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Yorkshire West Riding or the Provincial Grand Lodge of Yorkshire North and East Riding and the City of York. Acknowledges letters from the United Grand Lodge of England seeking details of returns and payment of registration fees for the period since 1811. The Lodge has attempted to obtain a revised Book of Constitutions without success and seek guidance on revitalising the Lodge. Annotation by Grand Lodge that Christopher Auton was the last member registered on 27 July 1811.

Royal Oak Lodge was granted a warrant to meet at the Royal Oak inn, Kirkgate, Ripon, Yorkshire as No. 495 by the Moderns' Grand Lodge on 22 June 1776. The Lodge was renumbered as No. 400 in 1780, as No. 401 in 1781 and No. 324 in 1792. From 1809 the Lodge met at the Minster Inn, Cathedral Yard, Ripon. After the union between the Moderns' and Antients' Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England, the Lodge was renumbered as No. 412. The Lodge was erased on 5 March 1828.
