Mr Vowles was a solicitor with Vowles, Jessop & Keen of Gloucester. He died in 1990. Mrs Vowles was a school governor of the Edge Church of England school at the time of its closure in 1980 and also a keen participant in the social activities of Brookthorpe Women's Institute and St Margaret's Church, Whaddon. She died in 1998.
