Alfred Edmund Taylor was born in Yorkshire. He joined the Shropshire Constabulary in 1893, and was promoted to Sergeant in 1898, Inspector in 1911, and Superintendent in 1916 when he moved to moved to Oswestry. He founded Oswestry Boys' Club in 1919, was awarded the MBE in 1928, retired in 1929, became a J.P. In 1931, and died in 1935, aged sixty-four.
