Description (What the record is about)
-
For some years the living of Udimore was held as a perpetual curacy, perhaps to allow its poor stipend, complained of by one of its holders in about 1720 (PAR497/1/1/1), to be shared by the incumbent of a neighbouring parish.

On 1 March 1968 Hastings Museum transferred a group of Udimore parish records which had been found among the papers of John E Ray, a solicitor in the town and an active antiquary. The accession register is insufficiently specific to allow these documents to be identified.
