Description

Mortgage: William Whiston of Cambridge, clerk, to John Davis of Heydon, co. Essex, Dr. of Divinity: (i) a toft, formerly a messuage, in DULLINGHAM, co. Cambridge, called Gowes alias Goffts and Gowes, as well as 12 acres of arable land lying in the several fields of DULLINGHAM, 52 acres of pasture, 22 & a-half acres of meadow and 5 acres of wood in DULLINGHAM commonly called Gowes Lands and all other lands, etc., of William Whiston in DULLINGHAM, BURROUGH and BRINKLEY called Gowes alias Goffts and Gowes heretofor the lands, etc., of Edward Hawford and Francis Hawford and late the lands, etc., of Henry Edgar of Eye, co. Suffolk (ii) a messuage in DULLINGHAM and all lands, meadows, etc., called Compes lying in DULLINGHAM, BURROUGH and BRINKLEY, containing 63 acres in the tenure of Edward Marely: to hold the same to the said John Davis for a term of 500 years as a security for £400.
