Grey, soft-covered photograph album measuring 245 cm x 305 cm, inscribed in white ink on front cover: 'Family photo album kept by Gwen Carless, wife of Harry Carless IPS (U.P.), from 1926 (Fatehpur) to 1933 (Kumaon).' The album contains 181 photographs, the majority family snapshots, with identifying captions, mostly taken in India, but with some English scenes. Locations include Fatehpur, Lucknow, Naini Tal, Shahjahanpur, Bhowali, Moradabad, Bijrani. Inserted at the back of the album are two more formal portraits of Harry Carless (one taken by the Jaipur Art Studio, Jodhpur), and a group portrait, 'Harry Carless, as one of the three Blues, in the winning Trinity Hall tennis team at Cambridge, 1924.'. A typescript memoir of Harry Carless, written by his son Hugh Carless, accompanies the album.
