The Reading Industrial Music Club was one of a number of such clubs promoted by the Arts Council of Great Britain immediately after the war to continue the work of the war-time concerts promoted by the Council for the Encouragement of Music and the Arts (CEMA) and the Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA).
