Administrative / biographical background

The Mission Theological Advisory Group (MTAG) was established in 1985, with the first meeting taking place on 19 December of that year under the Chairmanship of Revd Canon King. The Group was jointly appointed by the Board for Mission and Unity and Partnership for World Mission, to whom it was responsible, and was concerned with the Theology of Mission and dealt with questions of Theological Principle. The function of MTAG is to offer advice to the churches 'on matters affecting the mission of the whole Church. Its particular interest is in the relationship between the gospel we are called to proclaim and the western culture where we are called to proclaim it'.
