Par 2: The Hunter F.3/48 had been designed round an engine of 7,500 lbs thrust and we are therefore most unhappy even to consider installing the Avon which had recently failed at 6,800 lbs when the Sapphire was doing much better. Musgrave was of the opinion that there would be two types of Hunter F.3/48; one with the Avon and the other with the Sapphire
