Administrative / biographical background

The church, hall and vicarage were designed and built as a single architectural concept by Peter D Stonham in association with A R G Genning, and with consulting architects Tatchell and Wilson of London. The foundation stone of the church was laid on 2 October 1935, and consecrated in February 1938. The project was made possible by the patronage of Eliza Watson.

The church was declared redundant in 2003. It is planned that the adjoining church hall will be used for worship. The basement hall (under the church), which has murals by Hans Feibusch, will be retained by the church.
