Following local government re-organisation in March 1934 the boundaries of Lewes Borough were enlarged. The north-east corner of the parish of Kingston was transferred from Newhaven Rural District Council, while the eastern portion of St Anne Without Lewes and a small portion of South Malling Without Lewes were transferred from Chailey RDC. As a consequence building control plans for those areas were transferred to Lewes BC: on 13 April 1934 seventeen plans (DL/A 25/1123a-q) which had previously been approved by Chailey RDC, 1932-1934; on 4 May 1934 sixteen plans (DL/A 25/1108-1123), which had previously been approved by Newhaven RDC, 1901-1933.
