Description (What the record is about)
-
Brief of a case in the Queen's Bench between Hall and Baldwin, solicitors, Clitheroe (plaintiffs) and Mr J T W Aspinall (defendant).
The case relates to Mr Aspinall standing in the parliamentary elections for Clitheroe in 1852 and 1853. The plaintiffs claim that they were persuaded to act as Mr Aspinall's agents against their will, and that he has refused to reimburse them for money they spent on behalf of his cause. There is a great deal of detail about the alleged corruption surrounding both elections.
