Waterworks Office Filing used by Wessex Water during the transition to Water Authorities

This set of files were originally part of the Waterworks office filing sequence (BC/71/13). In 1974 when Wessex Water was created active files were removed from the Waterworks Office filing sequence and a new filing system was created from them. This sequence appears to have only been used for a few years as it stops being used by 1980.
These correspondence files cover a wide range of subjects relating to the waterworks including: interactions with Government Ministries; censuses of work and labour; interactions with the Bath City Council, including the Public Health Inspector; re-organisation of waterworks undertakings; the British Waterworks Association and the Water Research Centre; staffing and training; grant funding and finance; supply of piping materials; estate maintenance; reservoirs; control and pumping stations; and new and improved sources of water supply.
