Book Description: Cambridge: University Press, 1920. First Edition. 86pp. Photogravure portrait frontis of the author in uniform. 45 poems including 'On A Sonnet Of Rupert Brooke' etc etc. The author was born at Cheltenham on January 26, 1897. In April 1916 he left school for the army and after training at a cadet school in Oxford he received his commission in the 4th Wilts Regiment and proceeded to France in April 1917. After short leave in the following September he returned to France and was wounded on October 28, coming back to England in November. After some months on Salisbury Plain he was attached to the Machine-Gun Corps, and went to Grantham in April. In July he left again for France, where he was killed on the night of September 3, 1918. Endpapers browned. Original blue/green cloth-covered boards with gilt titling to spine. A few very minor and inoffensive marks, otherwise a good, tight copy. 205 x 143mm.
