Of Christopher Foster of Barbon, Kirkby Lonsdale, labourer, aged 64, that he has been well acquainted for over 50 years with Bank House otherwise High Bank House Estate in Barbon, recently purchased by Joseph Gibson of Whelprigg, esquire; that he declares to be correct description of premises in writing "A" and description in writing "B" [as in conveyance of 22 April 1865, WD WHELP 2/T 61]; that some of the field names have changed with one field having been divided into 2 and several small plantations fenced and taken off from the ancient closes of land; that the ancient messuage or tenement has for some time since been divided into 2 messuages or tenements and the garden has some time since been enlarged and a new garden formed; that premises in "B" belonged to Robert Skyring Garnett of Bank House from about 1815 to his death on 1 November 1854 when his son Thomas Garnett was in possession and so until his death in 1859 when his mother Mary Fleming Garnett received the profits until her death in October 1862
