Ms diary (21pp) kept from February - November 1942 by a prisoner of war in Changi camp, Singapore commenting on his and his fellow soldiers' surprise when they had learnt of Singapore's surrender on 15 February, his initial unfavourable impression of his Japanese captors and the relative care with which additional food could be acquired in Changi to supplement their diet at the outset of their captivity; together with a ts letter (1p), dated 3 January 1943, to him from his father and some ms tables (19pp) compiled in 1944 - 1945 showing the daily diet for prisoners of war in Singapore and work undertaken for the Japanese. At the time of Singapore's capitulation, Morris was serving as a corporal in the 18th Reconnaissance Regiment (18th Division).
