It was suggested by the MoS that the Sa.7 would be insufficiently powerful to meet the specification required for the thin-winged Javelin and I understand a representative of DerD at the meeting quoted 10,400 lb thrust. In order to give the airframe as now visualised the correct performance a take-off thrust of the order of 14,000 lb as the ultimate development, that would be satisfactory. Both the Air Staff and Glosters are completely against reheat of any form in the Javelin and the Ministry would prefer to see a larger engine such as the Bristol Olympus in the aircraft finally rather than an engine with reheat
