Administrative / biographical background

The Royal Marine Lodge was established in 1812 and met in the Royal Marine Barracks in Chatham. In 1824 the lodge united with the Globe Lodge, No. 306. This lodge is now known as the Gillingham Lodge of Benevolence, No. 184 and meets in Gillingham. The Warrant for the Royal Marine Lodge is now in the Grand Lodge Archives.
