TYRWHITT-DRAKE COLLECTION

The collection deals with the old family estates in and around Malpas, Cheshire. It covers the period 1634 to 1845 and it consists of 2,304 documents contained in 48 parcels.

The contents of all parcels and packets remain undisturbed as received at Chester and have been calendared accordingly. Parcels numbered "4", "5", "35" and "48" had these numbers on receipt, and these numbers have been retained. The remaining parcels have been lettered "A" to "Z" and "AA" to "RR", in chronological order.

Numerical references have been added (series 1-73, with sub-numbers), and the relation of these to the original parcels and their packet letters is shown below in the "Summary of contents of Parcels, etc." pp. C.1-3. The contents are summarised in more logical order in the "Classified Summary" p. B.1.
