The Enfield and District Carnation Society was founded in 1946. Its members grew, and exhibited at local shows, all types of pinks, carnations and other members of the Dianthus family. The Society organised two shows each year, and also arranged a programme of speaker meetings and outings. It was affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society and to the British National Carnation Society. The Society was wound up in June 1977 due to falling numbers.
