Administrative / biographical background

The Lodge of Equanimity was established in 1809 and met at the Castle Inn, Castle Street, Guildford, Surrey. In 1811 the lodge moved to the Angel Inn, High Street, Guildford. The lodge was named the Trinity Lodge in 1816. This appears to be the lodge's first official name although in the lodge correspondence for the year 1813 the lodge is referred to as the Holy Trinity Lodge. In 1825 the lodge was renamed the Lodge of Economy and in 1826 it became known as the Lodge of Equanimity. The lodge made its last payment in 1830 and was erased in 1838.
