Administrative / biographical background

Percy Lodge was granted a warrant by the Antients' Grand Lodge on 5 January 1791 to meet as No. 264 but was not named until1817. In 1791 the Lodge met at the Sun, Devereux Court, Temple, London. After the union between the Antients' and Moderns' Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England, the Lodge received the number No. 335. It was renumbered as No. 234 in 1832 and as No. 198, its present number, in 1863. The Lodge met in numerous inns and taverns around London and now meets at Freemasons' Hall, Great Queen Street, London.
