Brewery established 1616 by James Monger and taken over later by James Monger junior. Bought by James (or Josiah) Child by 1670; joined by son-in-law Edmund Halsey 1693 who became sole proprietor on Child's death.
Bought 1729 by Ralph Thrale, Halsey's nephew. Passed to son Henry 1758.
Sold on Henry Thrale's death in 1781 to David Barclay, Robert Barclay, Sylvanus Bevan and John Perkins. Name later charged from Thrale and Co. (later H. Thrale and Co.) to Barclay Perkins and Co. 1 Jan 1798.
Incorporated as Barclay Perkins and Co. Ltd. 1896.
Took over Style and Winch with Dartford Brewery Company and Royal Brewery Brentford 1929.
1951 began to establish Blue Nile Brewery in Khartoum.
1955 merged with Courage and Co. Ltd. to form Courage and Barclay Ltd.
