A compilation in which cuttings from Richard Gough's folio sheet describing churches (see J. Nichols, Literary Anecdotes, VI (1812), 319) are laid down to form headings for copious notes, probably by Gough. (fols. 4-62) Preceding and following the main text are general notes on churches (fols. 1v-3v, 62v-80v), some derived from Blomefield's Norfolk.
The spine title is "Grose's Gothic Churches" as the volume was previously attributed to Francis Grose, FSA.
