Description

13 & 14 June 1725 Humphrey Walcot to Richard Fleming.

By indenture of lease and release made between Humphrey Walcot and Ann his wife, and Richard Fleming of Shadwell, gent, witnessed that in consideration of £2410 paid by Richard Fleming to Humphrey Walcot, conveyance to Richard Fleming of the manor or lordship of Sibdon; the capital messuage called the Hall or Old Castle, with lands, etc. belonging in Sibdon, in the possession of Richard Bird and Messuages a Lands in the possession of widow Russell, Francis Williams, William Matthews; the parochial or free chapel of Edgton and Sibdon with advowson and patronage and glebe lands; that messuage with lands belonging on the waste called the Forest of Clun, called Comb Moch, with one sheep walk called the Riddings, in the possession of Edward Bowen, and afterwards in the possession of John Walcot, brother of Humphrey, upon part of which last mentioned tenement the same John Walcot rebuilt the dwelling house on the site or near to the place where the ancient house stood; and all houses and lands, etc. except the capital messuage in the occupation of John Tasker; the messuage and lands in possession of Samuel Nothway; the messuages and lands of John Carter, of Francis Tipton, Thomas Haycock, of John Carter, of John Oliver jnr. and snr., of John Griffiths, of Edward Bird or Evans and Edward Russell, and the tithes from them. To hold by Richard Fleming to the use of himself and his heirs.

Fine levied between Richard Fleming, gent., plt. and Humphrey Walcot and Ann his wife, and Richard Browne and Hannah his wife, defors., of the Manor of Sibdon Carwood, of 7 messuages, 30 acres of land, 20 acres of meadow, 100 acres of pasture, 10 acres of wood, 100 acres of furze and heath in Sibdon and Edgton, Bicton and Clun, and also the free chapels of Sibdon and Edgton, with tithes and oblations.

March 1727

Indenture of lease and release between Humphrey Walcot, Ann his wife, and Richard Fleming. Consideration: £959, for the purchase of the inheritance of the premises by Richard Fleming. All that messuage and lands in Sibdon in possession of Thomas Bird; messuage in the tenure of John Carter with lands, i.e. 3 parcels of arable land near the messuage containing 3 acres, 3 parcels of land lying together called the Rowley leasow, the Rowley meadow, and the Sty Knapp (8 acres); 3 parcels of arable, pasture and meadow lying together, two called Waynalls leasows (7 acres); 3 parcels called Waynalls meadow (1 acre); 1 parcel of arable and pasture land in Sibdon field (4 acres); parcel called the Lower Common (4 acres); parcel on the upper side of the common called the Cowters (12 acres); 2 acres of land in possession of John Carter and adjoining the Lower Common; messuage in Sibdon in the tenure of Samuel Nothway; tenement in Sibdon in the occupation of Mary Owens, widow, and Thomas Haycocks. To hold by Richard Fleming and his heirs. Covenant from Humphrey Walcot that he and Ann his wife before the end of Hilary term next to levy a fine Sur Cognizance de Droit of premises released. 4George II (1730/1) Hilary Term.
