The records concerning water supply listed represent those for the Eastbourne Waterworks Company, and the Mid-Sussex Water Company, together with the companies that they took over. There are also some records for the Mid-Southern Water Company. All became part of Mid-Sussex Water plc on 1 January 1999, and the company is now (2002) known as South East Water plc
