Mr John Cutforth was a well-known figure in Bicester and Marsh Gibbon.
He was former chairman of the governors of Cooper comprehensive school in the town and was connected with several organisations in the village.
He was a lay reader and editor of the parish magazine and a staunch supporter of the Marsh Gibbon Friendly Society that celebrates Oak Apple Day every May.
