Chirbury Hundred - At the Great Court, view of Frank-pledge lect and Turn of the Rt. Honble. Lady Mary Herberte the relict of the Rt. Homble Richard Lord Herberte Baron of Chirbury and Castlo Island deceased Lady of the said hundred, Lordship & Manor of Chirbury held at the house of Thomas Davies in Chirbury on 6th April 1657 before Thomas Crumpe, Esq., deputy to Job Charleton, Esq., steward of the hundred, lordship & Manor of Chirbury, Samuell More Esq., Lord of the Manor of Shelve within the said hundred and the freeholders and inhabitants of the township of Mucklewick came into courte and desired a view according to the custom of the hundred to set out the meates and bounds between the commons of Shelve and the township of Mucklewick which was granted them to be set out by Alexander Myddleton, gentleman, Thomas Brey, Morris Powell, Richarde Weaver, George Lloyde, Thomas Price and William Smith, gentlemen and to Thomas Lucas, Richarde Cartwright, William Gardner, Rd. Wotherton, gant., John Asterley, Francis ap Evan, Richarde Bryan John Phillips, John Phillpott and Richard Powell, gentleman, jurors, well was by the steward granted unto them, the said Samuell More, Esq., and the freeholders and inhabitants of Nuckewicke (sic).

And afterwards, i.e. the 1st July, 1657, the above jurors met together with Samuell Moore, Esq., on his own behalf and Collonell Thomas Mackworth, Robert Streverte, gentleman, on their behalf and the rest of the freeholders and inhabitente of Mucklewicke together with divers and many witnesses on both sides men of credit reputation and old ages by virtue of a warrant under the hand and seal of the said steward at the dwelling house of Elizabeth ward, widow in Shelve; and from thence they with the steward trod and perambulated to a place called the white grett in the township of Shelve westwards; and from thence downwards and along a little brook called Corndon's brook compassing a hill called the Squilva in the township and manor of Shelve, to a place called the parsons ford, and so up a gutter to a great stone which is taken to be a meare stone between the Commons of Shelve and the Commons of the township of Mucklewick, and from that stone up to another stone which was & ever has been noted to be a meare stone between the townships of Shelve and Mucklewicke; and from thence up the hill between the said townships leaving the hill called the Squilva, in the Nanor of Shelve on the left hand to a place called and commonly known by the name of Gawders well and from the said well on the top of the plaine there down hill to one Elizabeth Powell's hedge; and the said Jury as well upon their view as upon the testimony aforesaid and perusing of one Accurate survey, court rolls and evidences to that purpose for the findings out of the truth therein, said, and found the marks, meares and stones before recited to be the eight meares, limits and bounds between the said Manor of Shelve and the township of Mucklewicke and no other, and was by them and the stewards and Court allowed accordingly; and for further testimoney of it the stewards and jury signed it 15th October, 1657.
