1780 Messrs Birch and Villers, Coppersmiths traded from premises in Moor Street
1781 Birch died leaving Villers as sole proprietor
1818 Wilkes, an apprentice of Villers, marries the latters daughter and is taken in to partnership. Firm is now styled Villers and Wilkes
Edward Villers Wilkes, son of the Villers-Wilkes marriage carried on the business as E.V.Wilkes moving the works to Lower Priory
Edward Villers Wilkes died leaving two sons who succeded to the business
1877 Alfred Harrold and William Henry Bradbury and George Bown purchased the business of"E.V. Wilkes" from Alfred Salt Wilkes
1881 Messrs. Harrold, Bradbury and Bown obtain the Brewery St/Blews St premises
Bradbury leaves and Edwin Alldridge joins the partnership
1907 E.V. Wilkes, proprietor Edwin Alldridge, amalgamated with firm of Charles Lee, Freeman St. Firm reconstituted as a limited company under the style of Lee and Wilkes Ltd.
