Grant file containing correspondence, minutes, agendas, grant overviews, newsletters, accounts, copies of published material, project proposals and funding requests relating to the Voluntary Organisations Information Network (VOLNET). Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: In 1987 a proposal was submitted to the Voluntary Services Unit by the Federation of Charities Advice Services (FCAS) and the West Yorkshire Charities Information Bureau (WYCIB) to establish a new national database of charitable grant makers. The project involves research into the policies and practises of over five hundred charitable trusts, primarily those that, 1) make grants to voluntary sector projects, and 2) respond to applications from voluntary bodies. A classification scheme will allow for improved computer database searching. This information will also be published in book form. This project became VOLNET. Nature of support: In 1989 the Trust agreed to approximately £50,000 over two to three years. Minutes: B&GSCT 7177, B&GSCT 7186. Notes: Files organised roughly from newest to oldest.
