This series contains 63 volumes. These are referenced with the prefix ‘View Folio’ followed by a single digit number and a number of stars. Each volume has a different number of stars (*) after the geographical code it covers. These are mainly individual volumes relating to particular voyages, or from foreign hydrographic offices. This series also includes some charts published by foreign hydrographic offices, as well as some individual views with no provenance. These are geographically indexed using map finding aid in R24/84 in the same way as the view folio albums in ADM 344 Series One.

A list of the titles of these volumes was made in 1974 by Andrew David.

Possibly in the late 1950s or early 1960s, a record was kept of ‘views and books from envelopes’ that were given a number and star reference. This is reference COD 7/2. It is not clear exactly how this system worked, or if the views that are listed were ever returned and have since been lost. What is certain is that the arrangement in ‘envelopes’ has not survived as all of the volumes and charts in this series were not in envelopes in 1974.
