Pr 2: It now seems unlikely that the original P.1 prototype will go into production. The development of the P.1 will be an all-weather single-seat supersonic interceptor. It is supposed to have a maximum level speed of mach.2. Pr 2: The improved performance and increased all-up weight of the P.1 calls for an engine of some 10,000lbs max. SSL thrust unboosted. It does not seem possible to up-rate the Sa.5 to this figure without a major redesign. I should like to have Mr Lindsay's view on this point. Pr 3: Rolls-Royce have offered the RA-14, possibly with Nomonic 95 turbine blades. MoS is supporting this move. Par 4: I am not convinced the Sa.7R units cannot be installed in the new P.1
