Gallantry Notes: MC: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When in command of a mixed force of dismounted cavalry and four machine guns, he protected the right flank of the brigade. Under heavy shell fire he organised this party with great skill and when ordered to retire, he withdrew through heavy machine gun fire to a second position where he again organised defence. By his energy and splendid example the flank of the brigade was protected through a very critical period.;
