Description

Xerox copy of Somerton Borough court book containing yearly court leet and view of frankpledge, held in Oct. each year. Proceedings incl. lists of tenants, jurors and officers (bailiffs, constables, assessors of bread and beer, searchers and sealers of leather, hayward, and well wardens for 4 named wells), copyhold admittances, and jury presentments. Matters presented incl. persons liable to serve offices by rotation of burgages, persons tying horses in the Market Place and allowing pigs to run loose, obstruction of public paths and wells, deposit of rubbish, and recommendation for the erection of stocks or pillory, 1778. 90 fos
