Description (What the record is about)
-
In 1945 the Young Members' Department succeeded the Fellowship of Marriage (see MU/FOM) as the department responsible for the recruitment and care of younger members. It had the dual purpose of bringing young wives and mothers into the Mothers’ Union but also bringing lapsed and indifferent Christians into the life of the Church. An important means of achieving the latter was the promotion of Young Wives Groups which were run by the MU but were open to women regardless of belief. The name was changed to Young Families' Department in 1975.
