Description (What the record is about)
-
This deposit comprises a collection of family and parish records accumulated mainly by Wm. Davis, originally of Shepton Mallet, then of Doulting, (1795-1872) and his cousin, Wm. Davis of Sutton Nontis and Galhampton in N. Cadbury. The element of Doulting parish material reflects the work of the first named Wm. as overseer of the poor. The papers passed to the depositor's wife, grandaughter of the second Wm., through her father H.J. Davis of Doulting and Sutton Montis.
