Description (What the record is about)
-
A/HSE 1 Records of the South Essex Health Authority itself
Subsequent sub-numbers will be used as necessary for records of hospitals or other bodies within the area covered by the authority
The South Essex Health Authority was formed on 1 April 1993 from the Basildon & Thurrock Health Authority [for records of which see A/HB], the Southend Health Authority [for records of which see A/HS], and the Brentwood part of the Barking, Havering & Brentwood Health Authority [for records of which see A/HH]. The new authority thus covered the boroughs or districts of Basildon, Thurrock, Southend, Rochford, Castle Point and Brentwood. The London Boroughs of Barking and Havering, however, were formed into the new Barking & Havering Health Authority.
