Photographs

Many of the photographs in this sub-fonds come directly from the Corporation, but others have been incorporated from other accessions from individuals and organisations. The structure of the sub-fonds reflects the different types of photographic material present (glass negatives, printed photos etc) and the distinct collections of material from different depositors. The photographs document the building of the new town from the beginning but also include many images of completed buildings and neighbourhoods. Many of these appear to have been used for publicity purposes; some were taken by professional photographers and others by members of staff.
