Description

8 x b/w glass slides, including Sir H Dobbs opening the first Iraq Parliament and the Coronation of King Faisal. The slides (probably) derive from Ja'Far Pasha El Askeri, who had planned to deliver a lecture on Iraq to the Central Asian Society on 17 November, 1926, but was "summmoned from London, where he was his country's Diplomatic Agent, to become Prime Minister and to form a new Ministry in Baghdad." For the text of the proposed lecture, see Ja'Far Pasha El Askeri, "Five Years' Progress in Iraq," Journal of the Central Asian Society, XIV (1927), pp. 62-72. Copy negatives and low contrast 'postcard' prints made.
