They also present that Sir John Boys, who held of this manor an acre of land lying next to land of John Dene, son of John Dene, on E., of Ealias Duffe on W., to the King's way called le Courte lane leading to wood called Betshanger Wood on N., and to the Rectory Glebe of the Parsonage of Eastree on S., for annual rent of 8 d, fidelity and suit of court from three weeks to three weeks and other services, has died since the last court and by his last will left the said land to the Master and Brethren of the Hospital of Canterbury in perpetuity, wherefore there is due to the lord for relief a whole year's rent, viz., 8 d, paid here in court, but fidelity respited to next court. [Marginal note against the names: 'omnia amerciamenta parcantur per dominum huius manerij.'] Tenants of the homage present that James Burvill who held of this manor a messuage with about three acres in Tylmanstone lying next to the King's way on W., to land called Samons Close on E., to Glebeland of Parsonage of Tylmanstone on S., and also one other messuage with about two acres in Tylmanstone lying next to King's way on S. and W., to the land of the lord of this manor and le Churchyard on N. and S., for the annual rent of 14 d and 1 hen, [Cf entry above] fidelity and suit of Court; and that by his last will the said James will and bequeathed the premisses to Leonard Austen, and died seised of the land since the last court, whereby there is due to the lord a relief of a whole year's rent, viz., 14 d and 1 hen.
