Includes:

No. 1. Bond to fulfill indentures of lease, mortgage and conveyance.

Land at Holton le Clay, Pointon and Newcastle and chambers in Grays Inn.

Bonds to repay debts.

Many of these are made to William Farmery of Thavies Inn by such people as Lord Cornwallis, William D'Ovley, Christopher Wren, (no. 27, 1689, signature and seal), Charles Davenant the political economist (no. 28) Robert Arbuthnot, banker of Paris (no. 83).

There are series of similar bonds given by John Ball, Charles Monson his executor, Lord Sondes and various members of the Huddlestone (?) family.

Also:

No. 61. Appointment of William Stanley M.A. as domestic chaplain of Lord Newhaven, 1719. (Apparently William Stanley of Magdalene College Cambridge, rector of Broxholme, on the presentation of sir Henry Monson).

No. 88. Bond to indemnify a master (William Osmin, mercer of St. Martin in the Fields) against embezzlement by a journeyman (George Ball), made by the journeyman's father, John Ball, gent. of Sedgefield, co. Durham, 1727.

No. 90. Implementing of no. 88, George Ball having disappeared, 1729.

No. 99. Bond for repayment in England of money lent to him for the fitting out of his ship. The master of the "Frances" to William Monson, merchant, of Fort St. George, 1733.

No. 107. Deputation to receive his pay, Carr Scrope, lieut. of the "Neptune" to Charles Monson, deputy paymaster of the army, 1741.

No. 118. Quitclaim of all debts against William Monson, late of the council at Fort St. George and especially of a bond which was lost when the fort fell to the French (in 1746). 1753.
