Description

Black full-leather bound album measuring 240x300mm, binding in poor condition (spine lacking and boards loose), containing 40 albumen prints, with handwritten captions beneath each. The prints themselves are generally in good condition.The majority of the photographs show scenes of Bombay architecture (including views of the Fort before its demolition in the early 1860s), but there are also views of Bijapur, Karli, Bhavnagar, Poona and Satrunjaya, as well as two group portraits of governors of Bombay Sir Bartle Frere and Sir Seymour Fitzgerald. Process = Albumen prints. Photographers = J. Dwyer, Bourne & Shepherd and others unknown;.
