Contract for three Sapphire engines, Switzerland: export of Sapphire engines to France....

Switzerland: a revised draft contract has now been received for three engines. This includes a security clause on the lines required in Sir John Bootham's letter to Mr Golovine 22 July 1952. The MoS aspect of the contract is therefore clear. Delivery dates 1 March; 1 April; 1 May; price £40,000 per engine. France: 30 Sapphire engines - final decision on the part of the French authorities to place the order is held up pending receipt of an official letter from the MoS to the effect that the engines can be supplied. Sweden: according to information just received rom our agent, Florman, it would appear likely that the Swedish authorities have taken a decision to adopt the the Sapphire engine. Florman is endeavouring to obtain further information, particularly requirements as to engines
