Description

Firstly, the 25th. Oct., 1789 lease by Jacob Leroux to Joseph Kirkman and John Harris of land for 99 years from 29th. Sept. [, 1789] at £12 p.a.; and secondly, the 29th. Sept., 1809 assignment (made between Daniel Birkett and Thomas Nash of the first part; Thomas Nash sen., Sir William Curtis, John Coles, Joseph Johnson, Samuel Cox and William Prest of the second; Robert Kilby Cox, James Curtis and Edward Payne of the third; and Thomas [I] Hicks of the fourth) whereby premises were vested in Thomas [I] Hicks: therefore, in consideration of £1,950, T. [I] Hicks (of Evesham Buildings, Somers Town, Midx., victualler) lets to Henry Savory (of Judd St., Brunswick Sq., Mdx., gent.) "The Cock" inn at the corner of Evesham Buildings and Phoenix Street, Somers Town (as shown on a plan [with the original deed]), allowing Hicks to repair a waterpipe which crosses the inn's yard towards his own cottages, from 24th. June, 1815 for forty years at £60 p.a. quarterly paid; H. Savory will paint the exterior every three years and insure the property, repaying Hicks if the latter insures because of Savory's default; the premises may be inspected biannually, power of re-entry is as in PA/101/12/142, and there is a covenant to produce deeds.
