Seaman of Bishopsteignton. Born in Highweek and apprenticed by Parish at 10 yrs old to Jonas Honeywill of Ilsington until 21 yrs old. At 20 yrs 6 mths. master let him go, so hired himself to John Lethbridge of Bishopsteignton as weekly servant at 2s.9d. per wk, staying 6 mths. Believes no understanding between former master and Lethbridge. Has never rented at £10 p.a. Has never served one master as labourer more than 2 mths since. About 25 yrs ago, went into Newfoundland Service, continuing ever since.
