The Lodge of Love and Unity was named and established in 1779. In 1779 the lodge met at a private room in Dover, Kent and in 1786 they moved to the Chequers Inn, Dover. In 1788 the lodge met at the Britannia Coffee House, Dover and the meetings remained there until the lodge was erased in 1792.
